Wallenius Wilhelmsen signs a 20-year lease for the Port of Brunswick

Norwegian car transporter Wallenius Wilhelmsen has signed a 20-year lease agreement with the Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) for the Port of Brunswick, with options of up to 30 years.

Wallenius Wilhelmsen’s will expand and improve the existing Colonel’s Island Terminal and Brunswick Port’s automotive processing center. Another addition is the new equipment processing center that can store, customize, assemble, practice and distribute machines on behalf of equipment OEMs and their dealers.

“Our expansion and new long-term commitment in Brunswick strengthens our position as the preferred supply chain partner for North American customers in the automotive, equipment and breakbulk sectors,” said Lasse Kristoffersen, CEO of Wallenius Wilhelmsen.

The enhanced facilities are purpose-built to enable the completion, storage, inspection and distribution of products without the need to move them to an off-site location.

“We are pleased to welcome Wallenius Wilhelmsen’s additional operations to Colonel’s Island Terminal, where we are developing the nation’s premier gateway for all carriers handling automobiles and heavy machinery,” added GPA President and CEO Griff Lynch.
