Former CS Yatani, Governor of Marsabit, arrested over corruption claims

Yatani served as governor for Marsabit

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested former Finance Minister Ukur Yatani and Marsabit Governor Ali Mohammud Mohammed for allegedly embezzling Ksh8.2 billion from public coffers in Marsabit County.

Yatani, who previously served as governor of Marsabit County, currently works at the Integrity Center.

The sleuths simultaneously excavated the homes and offices of both Yatani and Ali in Nairobi and Marsabit counties on Wednesday morning.

Marsabit Governor Ali, who is in custody, will be escorted to the EACC regional offices in Isiolo County.

The former CS was accompanied to the EACC headquarters by former Defense Secretary Eugene Wamalwa, Siaya Governor James Orengo and Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo, among others.
