Follow the results of the mayoral elections live


Eleven mayors are elected.

There are competitions for the Mayor of London, nine Mayors of the Combined Authority and for the Mayor of Salford City.

The polls have now closed and the votes are being counted.

Four results came in on Friday, and two came in today.

Today’s results are expected to last until around 10pm for the results of the London mayoral race.

Below are the matches in order of when they are expected to announce the results. Some are newly established mayors voting for the first time.

  • Tees Valley, Conservative Ben Houchen re-elected
  • York and North Yorkshire, Labour’s David Skaith was elected
  • North East, Labor leader Kim McGuinness elected
  • East Midlands, Labour’s Claire Ward elected
  • Liverpool City Region, Labour’s Steve Rotheram elected
  • Labor’s Oliver Coppard is elected in South Yorkshire
  • Greater Manchester, results are expected around 2pm on Saturday
  • West Midlands, results expected around 2.15pm on Saturday
  • West Yorkshire, results are expected around 3.30pm on Saturday
  • Salford, results expected around 7pm on Saturday
  • London, results expected around 10pm on Saturday

This year’s mayoral elections will be held for the first time under the first-past-post-electoral system.

The map below shows which mayoral candidates won in their region by political party. This will be completed as soon as the results are announced.

The authority covers the council areas of Darlington, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar & Cleveland and Stockton-on-Tees.

The area covered includes the counties of Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire and the unitary council areas of Derby and Nottingham.

This jurisdiction includes the two unitary councils of North Yorkshire and York City.

Its jurisdiction includes the metropolitan boroughs of Gateshead, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, North Tyneside, South Tyneside and Sunderland, as well as the unitary councils of Northumberland and Durham.

Council areas included are Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, St Helens, Sefton and Wirral.

The area includes the boroughs of Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield.

The authority covers the council areas of Bolton, Bury, Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford and Wigan.

The jurisdiction includes the metropolitan districts of Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall and Wolverhampton.

The area includes the metropolitan boroughs of Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds and Wakefield.

Salford City is also part of Greater Manchester Combined Authority, so people there voted in two races.

The voters are in the Greater London region.
